Outreach Opportunity

Alcoholics Anonymous

We have AA meetings at the Skipper’s Nest (on the church campus) four nights a week. These are open meetings. The meetings are scheduled for Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 7:00 PM, Thursday (women’s meeting) at 7:00 PM.  You may check the specifics by linking to .

Food Pantry

We operate a Food Pantry usually on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month, 9:30 AM – 1:30 PM. In November and December, our Food Pantry is open on the 2nd and 3rd Thursdays from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM.  We serve about 250 – 300 families a month with groceries to feed a family of four for four days. This amounts to over 60,000 meals a year that the Food Pantry provides for the needy of Bay County. This is a supplemental food program and bags are filled with canned staples, meat and bread. Food is delivered on the 3rd Friday and our “Pantry Volunteers” put the food in storage.  A Food Pantry staff runs the Thursday programs which includes about a dozen volunteers.

 Thanksgiving Dinner Boxes

Thanksgiving Boxes are filled each Thanksgiving Season so that some needy families can enjoy a festive meal in their own home. These boxes include turkeys and all of the sides to make a wonderful meal that will bring memories for years to come. In 2016, we prepared 12 boxes for some of the needy families in our community.  We also provided hens and all the Thanksgiving sides through our Food Pantry.

Gifts for Seniors

Gifts for Seniors is a project sponsored by our Presbyterian Women. Our congregation provides “wishes” for residents of a local nursing facility during the holiday season. Many gifts are provided by the congregation for these needy nursing residents in our community.

 Our Angel Tree

The Angel Tree is an outreach project held during the Advent Season to provide gifts of clothing, toys and other items for some needy children in our community. The angel ornaments are selected by our congregation’s members and they purchase the item, wrap them, and bring them back with the ornament attached. The gifts are distributed at Christmas to the needy children of our community to help make their Christmas more special.

 Thornwell Home For Children

Thornwell Home for Children is a facility located in Clinton, South Carolina and is a ministry of the Presbyterian Church- USA in the states of Florida, Alabama, and South Carolina. It has operated as an orphanage since 1875 founded by a young Presbyterian pastor following the devastation of the Civil War. Thornwell is now a place of refuge of healing and new hope for abused, abandoned and hurting children. Thornwell serves approximately 100 children annually in the residential program. There are 13 residential cottages with six to eight children in each home. In addition, Thornwell provides many opportunities for the children and youth in our local community to be involved on campus.

Homeless School-Age Children is another area where we try to be of some assistance. We collect good coats, sweaters and gloves to distribute to the homeless children who go to school in our county. Homeless school-age children number about 500 currently in Bay County. Each year we collect school supplies and uniform shirts to give to these homeless and needy children.

Other organizations that we have a relationship with and which we try to help on a continuous basis is the Rescue Mission in Panama City, the Second Chance Brain Injury organization of Bay County, the Dogwood Acres Camp (a camping and retreat center of the Presbytery of Florida), the Salvation Army and several others.

The Four Church-Wide Offerings are also well-funded by Parkway each year. These offerings include the One Great Hour of Sharing on Easter, the Pentecost Offering, the Peacemaking Offering on World Communion Sunday, and the Joy Offering at Christmas. You can link to our denomination’s website for more information on the use and recipients of these offerings at “”.
