Presbyterian Women

Presbyterian Women (PW) is an independent organization within the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) of more than 300,000 women. The programming and resource options for the organization offer a variety of ways for women to live out their faith in an inclusive, caring community.

Presbyterian Women offers women in the church meaningful ways to live out their faith in the midst of a caring community of women. For more than 200 years PW groups have strengthened the Presbyterian Church and played a major role in sharing the good news of Jesus Christ and witnessing to the promise of God’s kingdom.

Our Presbyterian Women at Parkway have two circles. The evening circle meets usually on the 2nd Monday of each month at 7:00 PM in different members’ homes. The morning circle meets on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 9:30 AM in the Fellowship Hall. The main focus of our circle is a solid Bible Study course and service projects sponsored by the PW. This year’s Bible Study is titled, Dispatches to God's Household: The General Epistles by Nancy Benson-Nicol. The six books of the New Testament explored in this study—1 and 2 Peter, 1–3 John, and Jude—teach us what it means to live in community, what it means to belong to the household of God. A subset of New Testament letters known as the General Epistles, these letters were written to be shared and read aloud in early Christian communities.

Our Presbyterian Women at Parkway have two salad suppers each year and have a retreat on the last Saturday of September in which it invites women of the community’s congregations to attend. It is a wonderful event and concludes with a lunch in the Fellowship Hall appointed with the fine china of different families in our congregation.
The PW hosts a Christmas Party for the residents of the Council on Aging Respite Center, an organization that reaches out and help those with dementia and Alzheimer’s. This is a fun event with lots of food and Christmas Carol singing and a visit with Santa.
The PW is involved with many other activities and organizations throughout the year.
